Site Tokens

Hey if you missed Woodland War for any reason, or you were there but forgot to get one, and would like a site token, we still have plenty. Bring 2$ on a Friday, any time during Warlords, which lasts through September, and you can get one. Contact Shay.

Death Sticks Melting

Hey, recently a couple of death sticks have been left in hot cars and become warped. If you’re having a similar problem it can be fixed. If you’d like help, contact an officer. Or you can do it your self by re-heating your death stick with a hot hair dryer or heat gun and bending it back. If you can help it keep your gear inside, if you can’t, try to lay both death stick and sword as flat as possible.

Shay’s Thoughts

Woodland War was so awesome! I was so proud of how everyone behaved and had fun. Thank you so much for being there and bringing your fun loving Attitudes to the game. I had a great day.

I mentioned right before we started fighting that day, that 180s were the thing I hear the most about post melee. Then I got to thinking about it, and it’s really the second or third thing. The thing I hear the most about is probably hard shots. Which makes more sense. (Death from behind is competing with 180s if you’re curious.)

Melees are action-packed and adrenaline filled. It’s fun and makes for great stories, but it does tend toward harder shots. Most of the time we as a group are really good about apologizing for a hard shot when we give one, and recognizing our opponent’s best intentions when we receive one. We all know it is part of the game. On occasion, I hear about particularly egregious hard shots from fencers and I do my best to hear you. I love hearing from you for any reason. I will always try to help.

Naturally, I was expecting to hear about at least one of these things after the war. And that would have been totally cool. But I didn’t. So really this whole thought is just to say, thank you. Thank you for taking care of each other and not dishing out hard shots, bad 180s, or DFBs. Or if they did happen, thank you for your quick apologies, and your understanding. Thank you for being Terrasylvan.
