Welcome to the Forums!

This is where chattery with wizardry spider-web-connectivity of words and expressions can come to life! This post will break down what each phrase, word, and function over how your actions and reactions will affect any and all posts made here!

Sticky Topic
Uh oh, did I get a spider's web caught somewhere in my post and now my post has become "sticky" with its gross webby-ness?

No, as much as I'm sure Haute would gleefully enjoy watching you wriggle out of that mess, this is not what this means.

Much like this post (as this one is also marked as sticky), what this means is this post will always stay at the top of the page above any other topics. So this would be helpful to use if you are making an especially important announcement, like this one! If there are more than one sticky topics they will stay together in the order they are created, but it's best to not use the sticky function unless it is a specifically important topic. Usually these posts will never be closed, as they hold important information, so keep this in mind when you consider the "sticky" option. (And hopefully that spider in your imagination won't follow those posts either!)

Hot Topic
Oh no! Titania is angry and putting my post on fire!!

As much as I'm sure Titania would be angry about fire in general, this is also not what this means.

A "Hot Topic" means for this specific post/discussion/topic there is something worth looking at, as there are many people reading and writing responses about this topic! If you find that one of your posts is marked as a "Hot Topic", make sure to keep up on it! It means people are enjoying reading and responding to the discussion(s) you've helped start!

Member Rating Badge(s)
Does this mean I'm being rated by other people?

No, not at all. This is the forum's internal system of seeing who is posting the most on the forums and it will tally a certain amount of postings with more badges. The more you post and respond to others posts, the more badges you can earn!

Solved Posts
Did I do maths in my post and now it's been seen by my math teacher!?

A solved post means this particular discussion has been figured out. This usually pertains to a topic that has a given question, and the person is trying to find a solution to said question. When you mark a topic as solved, this will let others know that this question has been answered and it will show what the solution was for the question regarding the topic.

-[Empty Slot For Something Questioned]-
Emptiness...

Usually a discussion about it...

New Feature: Spoilers!

A new feature has been added to the forums and it allows you to create Spoilers! A Spoiler is simple a way to hide content until clicked on like in a Movie Review! That way you can't be blamed for ruining the end of the Titanic or whatever.

To create a spoiler in any of your posts, just look for the icon that looks like a circle and a plus ⨁” . When you click, it will ask you for a title of your spoiler which can be whatever you want. Then click OK.

This will create a pair of bracketed “[ ]” text called a shortcode. It will look something like this

[spoiler-example title="example"][/spoiler-example]

These two bracketed shortcodes are like the beginning and end of your spoiler and everything you want to hide in your Spoiler needs to go between them like this:

[spoiler-example title="example"]

I would have been hidden in the spoiler if this wasn't an example 😎.

[/spoiler-example]

After that, you can just finish your post and when you add your reply, it will look like this:

Spoiler
How Titanic Ends

The ship hits an iceberg. Many people die. A girl refuses to share a door and lets her “true love” drown. The real heroes are the musicians in the orchestra who continue to play even though the ENTIRE ship is sinking.

Remember: great is just good, but repeatable.
