Winter Warrior Challenge: Week 3 & 4

For these two weeks our challenge will focus on the Foundational Pillar of Honor, and it will be both a Mental challenge and a Physical one.

This Honor challenge is a little different from our last two because it really depends on your schedule. So we will start with the time sensitive one first.

The Physical Challenge:

  • Join us for Master’s School this Saturday, or BGL Fighter Practice next Friday, and focus your practice on Honor. It is always important in our practices that you focus on Honor, and you really all do a beautiful job of it. I think that is because you’re naturally honorable people. Thank you for that. For this challenge though, genuinely focus on it. Get some of that good mental talk going on as you’re at a practice, and really focus on this Pillar as you fight. This will be doubly important as we join our BGL friends. In a new environment it’s important to be on our best behavior. We are not only representing our selves but the Company. Be Honorable.

The Mental challenge will fill in for whichever week you choose. Though if you want to come to both practices that is totally great! Just make some time to do this meaningful challenge as well.

The Mental Challenge:

  • Create a mind map or journal entry on the definition of Honor in General and what it means to you personally. Make time to talk to some one about it. And bonus points if your share a picture of it with us.

This is a great opportunity for you to fit this challenge to your life. The goal of these challenges is not to overwhelm you, but to help you add a little more intention into your life. There is a great deal of talk about twitch reflexes and reactions in fencing. Those things are important. They should be worked on. I have noticed though, that the very best fencers do things intentionally. Fencing is a unique sport in that it takes as much mental effort as it does physical. So come, fight, be honorable, and then work on recording your thoughts. It really will help you be a better fencer.

I hope to see you all at a practice in the next two weeks. If you need to borrow gear contact me and we will work something out.

I believe in you Winter Warriors! Shaky tail!
