Keening: Part 8 – Let the Dead Rest
“People always want their soul-searching and self discovery cheap, but it doesn’t work like that. You have to be ready to experience some hardship and fear.”
“People always want their soul-searching and self discovery cheap, but it doesn’t work like that. You have to be ready to experience some hardship and fear.”
He had never been able to do this correctly before, despite how many hours of practice he’d given it. But maybe, just maybe, it could work now.
Lucan bit his lip. “I suppose you’re right.” He shifted awkwardly, as if unsure of what to say. Finally, he asked, “So, this is a goddess, then? A real goddess? I… I don’t suppose…you know…you’ve ever met a god before?”
“A few weeks ago I discovered we live in a world of magic, and I figure there are dragons and demons, fae and spirits and who knows what else? Who’s to say the battle’s lost?”
Lorcan sighed. “Great. Lorcan was in a thunderous mood. Due to his nightmares, he had hardly slept at all the last few nights, and sleep deprivation was taking a definite toll on him. He was almost to the point where he could see and hear things that weren’t there. In fact, he wasn’t entirely sure he wasn’t. His … Read More
Another muffled caw came through the window, “Lorcan MacBroin, you open your window! I’ll bring Valkyries next time if you don’t!”
